MAINTENANCE AND CARE

RAW PLYWOOD

Raw plywood, while more susceptible to marks and surface damage, allows you to sand back the surface. For minor marks and stains we recommend gently sanding the surface with 180 grit sand paper. Sand with the grain to minimise any cross-grain scratches. For an even finer finish, move up through the grades of sandpaper until you reach the desired finish. Be aware that plywood is made by layering various sheets, so care needs to be taken not to sand through the top decorative layer.

COATED WOOD

Our standard finish is a water based clear coat that is fast drying and resistant to yellowing. To clean, use a soft damp cloth with plain water or very mild chemical cleaners. Avoid the use of harsh chemical cleaners or detergents, as these can break down the surface over time. For deeper scratches, the coating can be cut back and the surface re-coated.

POWDER COATED

It is recommended in environments like urban areas, cleaning should take place at a minimum of every twelve months. In areas such as beachfront houses or industrial areas, it is recommended a cleaning program should be carried out more frequently, at a minimum of every six months.

Clean by gently rubbing the surface with a soft brush (non-abrasive) and a diluted solution of a mild detergent, e.g. pH-neutral liquid hand or dishwashing detergent in warm water to remove dust, salt and other deposits. For stubborn stains, use only recommended solvents on the affected area, e.g. Isopropyl alcohol (IPA) or methylated spirits and rinse off with clean water. Do not excessively rub the surface, especially on metallic finishes.

Do not use any of the following:

  • Turpentine

  • White Spirits

  • Thinners

  • Citrus Based Cleaners
