Archetype is a design and fabrication business run by Industrial Designer Tim Allan, in partnership with CTS Fabrication. With years of previous experience in the events and exhibition industry, Archetype focuses on the design of clean, minimalist displays and signage for commercial applications as well as providing occasional concept design services when required. CTS Fabrication brings the knowledge and skill in metal fabrication to assist in creating robust and high quality designs.

All work is locally made in Melbourne, Australia, with collaboration with local Melbourne businesses for parts and components that cannot be handled in-house.

 
 
 
 

FABRICATION CAPABILITIES

The hero element of Archetype is our CNC router, accurately cutting parts from sheets up to 1200x2400mm in size. We also have an array of other timber manufacturing tools that we continue to grow.

As for metal fabrication, in partnership with CTS Fabrication, we have the following:

  • CNC Plasma cutting table

  • MIG - TIG and Stick welding for fabrication of up to 12 mm steel

  • Metal lathe and Milling Machine

  • Metal Bandsaw

 
 
 
 

DIGITAL CAPABILITIES

Digital designs and concept presentations use a mix of software that we have continued to develop over the years. Software used by Archetype includes the following.

  • Sketchup for concept design and development

  • Keyshot for product renders

  • Fusion360 for CAD design and manufacturing
